Creative and Entertaining Ideas

to make your wedding’s reception unforgettable.

Everybody wants to make their wedding day as memorable for their guests as it is for them, and wowing them at the reception is just how to do that.  Check out these creative and entertaining ideas to make your wedding’s reception unforgettable for everyone.

1. Photo Booth

Incorporating a photo booth into your wedding reception is an excellent idea because it not only provides your guests with a fun and interactive activity to do at the event but leaves the guests with a physical souvenir of the occasion, to reflect on for time to come. A photo booth is also a great way for the bride and groom to get a compilation of photos for their own album of all the attendees, making a photo booth an excellent option because not only is it a great form of entertainment but provides a wonderful keepsake.

2. Party Favours

It’s true that weddings are often formal affairs, but after dinner, during the reception is a time to really kick your shoes off and celebrate!  You’ll more than likely want your guests to have an incredible time, and providing fun party favours is a great way to let them know it’s time for a good time, and they also make for excellent photo props. Funny hats, feather boas, beach balls and glow sticks, amongst other novelty items are the perfect accessories for adding a carefree, enjoyable element to your wedding reception.

3. Retro Sweet Bar

Children and adults alike love sweets, so a retro sweet bar at your wedding reception is bound to be a big hit with the guests. Why not go the whole hog and deck out a cart with all of your favourite old fashioned sweets, such as Kola Kubes, Flying Saucers, Fruit Salad’s and more – people will have a hard time staying away!

4. Childcare

If your wedding reception is a child friendly event then consider offering childcare and some awesome activities to keep the kiddies busy and happy, so the parents are able to relax and enjoy themselves as well. Set up a play area that provides both supervision and entertainment for your tiny guests, featuring arts and crafts, video games, snacks and all sorts of other fun to make the children feel welcome. Mum and Dad will love it, and in turn your reception will run smoothly, without the disruption and distraction of bored or overtired tots.

5. After Party

Sometimes you're just not ready for the party to end when the venue closes, so have a hip after party planned for the younger, or more spirited crowd to carry on to. Book a space for any interested guests, that has a more informal and trendy feel to it, so the guests who are up for staying up all night can celebrate into the wee hours of the morning with you.

6. Choreographed First Dance

A huge trend nowadays that is guaranteed to make a memorable impact is surprising your guests with a choreographed dance for their viewing pleasure. With the help of a few dance lessons and a little creativity you can turn that standard and predictable first dance into something to remember, and really let your personality shine through. Add to the excitement and incorporate the bridal party or some close relatives into the act.
